Grace Outreach

As Christians we are called to love our neighbors as ourselves.  This requires reaching beyond ourselves and making a difference in the lives of others.  Grace Outreach’s purpose is to reach out to the people of Dalton through a comprehensive outreach effecting the hearts, minds and bodies of the people in our community.  We will do this by:

Impacting the Home

A.                 Goal:  To provide decent, safe and affordable single-family housing.

B.                 Plan:  To purchase, renovate and resell properties to Christian families in need.

C.                 Steps:

1.                  Screen and identify qualifying families.

2.                  Purchase cheap, run down properties

3.                  Renovate through means of:

a.                   Sweat equity of future owner.

b.                  Donations of time, money and labor from the church and community.

c.                   Help of MTW Impact teams

1)      Requires relationship with and approval of MTW

2)      Would provide labor and significant funding for materials.

4.                  Home sold to owner at cost to Grace Outreach.

a.                   Work out arrangement with local financial institution to provide loans.

b.                  Money from sale of home reinvested in new property.

D.                 Benefits

1.                  Provides families with suitable, affordable housing.

2.                  Enables Grace the opportunity to have a powerful impact on the community through:

a.                   Visible example

b.                  Planting Christian families in neighborhoods with the expectation that they will help us with outreach to that neighborhood.

c.                 We are fulfilling God’s command to love our neighbor as ourselves and the Great Commission.

Impacting the Family

A.     Goal:  To provide poor and/or transitioning families with help in establishing or maintaining their family life in our community.

B.     The Plan:

1.   To be a bilingual resource for information linking people

      to governmental agencies, social resources and job training within the community.

2.   To provide biblical counseling to families.

3.      To provide access to affordable goods for establishing and maintaining a household.

C.  Steps:

1.      Secure an accessible location with suitable storage areas for the ministry.

2.      Train volunteer staff to be able to provide needed information to families.

3.      Provide trained staff (professional and volunteer) to provide biblical counseling for families.  Cost for counseling would be kept affordable by charging on a sliding scale according to income.

4.      Open a thrift store where families we are helping can purchase clothing, household goods and bulk food at reduced rates.

Impacting Children

A.     Goal:  To bring children face to face with the gospel of Jesus Christ, and to provide them with activities in a safe, nurturing environment that can help them grow in their faith.

B.     Plan:  To impact them with the gospel in the areas of their greatest needs and interests:  tutoring, sports ministries and summer camps.

C.     Steps:

                                                            1.      To provide tutoring and summer school opportunities for at risk children.

                                                            2.      Provide an after school program to provide a safe, Christian environment for the children of working parents.

                                                            3.      Open a preschool that can provide a safe, Christian environment for the children of working mothers.  Charges for the preschool would be based on income.

                                                            4.      To provide summer lunch programs in area parks, coupled with regular evangelistic VBS programs staffed by MTW Impact teams.

                                                            5.      Organize sports ministries to provide opportunities for training and competition in a Christian environment…i.e. soccer and basketball teams, leagues, etc.

                                                            6.      Continue and expand our current sports camp program.

                                                            7.      Provide summer camp opportunities for children participating in our programs.
